Yesterday one of the two of us was still a bit jet lagged, so we didn't get out of the hotel as early as we had wished. However, we finally went to Ngong Ping monastery and the Big Buddha. It's an amazing creation and we were stunned by its size. In the evening we wandered the Temple Night market. That was maybe not our cup of tea (well, at least not the way we liked the three storey Apple Store in the IFC mall).
Today we managed to get out almost an hour earlier and this time our brilliant idea consisted of a 4 hour hike.
Hiking is something we do when we can, but in retrospect we have to admit that the Hong Kong climate made our relatively easy hike a rather straining and sweaty experience. We hiked a part of the Hong Kong Trail, Dragons Back to Big Wave Bay. The trail offered spectacular views, close contact with beautiful and huge butterflies and at the end, some wading in the South Chinese Sea. The reward of cooling down our feet and all the views along the hike made the effort all worth it! We can strongly recommend this hike!
