For today we chose to go for a day trip to not so far away Macau. It's actually only 60 kilometres between Hong Kong and Macau. The boat is fast and an easy way of coming here.
Since Macau has been under Portuguese rule since it was founded in the 16th century, it bears many visible traces from the European influence that they brought. The old parts of Macau could be found in any European city.
As we were here for a few hours over the day we adapted a classical tourist approach and went for some of the well known landmarks. We specially liked the views from Macau tower and Guia Hill Lighthouse.
For us a day trip was a perfect way to get a taste of Macau, and we feel that we didn't need more time to fulfill our goal. Tomorrow we'll continue exploring Hong Kong and its surroundings.
