Amsterdam and Rotterdam
May 2012. Travel to Amsterdam with an open mind, and leave all prejudices, political views etc. at home! We travelled to celebrate Henrik's 30th birthday. The capital of the Netherlands is a very cozy city, especially with all the canals and house boats.
This city never sleeps, and since you'll find the Red Light District right in the city centre, it's wise to leave your prejudices at home. You can also find a lot of "coffee shops" everywhere. The mere presence of them is a reason large enough for you to broaden your mind. Even at the very nice flower markets you'll have to be open minded, since cannabis seeds are sold alongside the tulips and other flowers.
As the Netherlands is a small country we jumped on a train to neighbouring Rotterdam for a day trip. The highlight of that day was Euromast with its lovely views, and the nice walks in the city. There are some interesting and different architecture here. However, we felt that we should have focused our attention on Amsterdam.
Below you'll find a selection of photos from our trip to the Netherlands.
