Our trip to Mallorca has come to an end. This time we visited our friends from Gothenburg in their apartment in Palma city. It's been a quite varied trip where we both have been on city sightseeing in Palma, a hike on a part of the GR221-trail with a nice view over the city of Sóller, and we have of course been swimming in the Mediterranean Sea at Sant Elm. Yesterday was our last full day and it was spent by visiting the Cueves del Drach close to Porto Cristo, and Cabo de Formentor in the northeastern part of the Mallorca island.
The "dragon caves" have been known at least since the 14th century, and its underground stone formation and large lake is magnificent. Despite our efforts along with our friends two year old daughter we didn't locate the dragon it self, but we all agreed that it probably was out shopping for the oncoming week...
The Formentor area is a rather exciting part of the islands landscape with winding, narrow roads and the magnificent light house standing all alone on the high rise cape. A visit is recommended, but more for the road than the lighthouse it self.
It has been a very pleasant weekend with both leisure and more active sections. And we've been given a nice view of the Mallorca island, with a lot more mountains then anticipated!
